Rose painting motifs are originally traditional Norwegian patterns that are often based on the acanthus plant and use s- and c-strokes to create patterns.
However, these patterns have been used all over Scandinavia.
Motifs can vary between different styles and often include flowers, leaves, berries, scrolls and teardrop shapes that are placed in the center or as part of a ring around a central flower.
