A ceramic jug created by Carl Dan Ove Grip. Signed at the bottom.

Carl Dan Ove Grip ceramist born in Uppsala on August 7, 1937. He began as an apprentice with his father Carl Grip at Upsala Ekeby in 1951, then worked for 2 ½ years as a turner at Alingsås Keramik. When he received an offer of employment at Upsala Ekeby, he moved back home.

Dan Grip's skills at the wheel meant that in 1960 he received an offer from Stig Lindberg to start at Gustavsberg. He accepted and stayed there for almost 25 years. In the latter part of the year he managed Stig's studio on his own.

In 1985 he left Gustavsberg and started his own business at Torekällberget in Södertälje. There he took over the premises of Torekällbergets Keramik from Keh Haber and Alarik Kinnunens. His production consisted of unique ceramic series, soup tureens, teapots, pie molds and mugs, etc.

In the late 1990s he began to scale back his production and in 2003 he handed over the workshop at Torekällberget to Elin Björkdahl and Berit Karlsson.

Dan then moved to Mariefred and later to Skebokvarn outside Flen. There he now has a small studio where he makes everyday objects.
