An antique pocket watch with a white dial and Roman numerals. The dial features a small seconds sub-dial. The case is marked "KEYSTONE WATCH CASE U.S.A. 8286281".

Material: Gold-filled (not solid gold). Contrary to what its outward appearance might suggest, the case is not made of solid gold. The hallmark featuring a crown above a set of scales, along with the text "U.S.A.", is the classic trademark of the Keystone Watch Case Company. This specific mark (the scales) was used by Keystone for their highest-quality gold-filled cases. "Gold-filled" means the case consists of a base metal (often brass) bonded with a thick layer of genuine gold (usually 10K or 14K) using high heat and pressure.

This is a significantly more durable and valuable method than standard gold plating, which explains why the watch has retained its fine gold luster without wearing down. Based on the case's serial number and the design of the hallmark, the watch was likely manufactured between 1900 and 1915.

THE PURCHASE ALSO INCLUDES:

One vintage gold-plated watch chain (for pocket watches) with a tie clip. Manufactured in the 1970s or 1980s.
