This lovely ceramic set comes from Skansen’s Pottery (Skansens Krukmakeri) in Stockholm. The workshop’s history dates back to the 19th century, and it is renowned for its timeless, wheel-thrown functional ware made of glazed stoneware.
The stamp on the underside reads "SKANSEN," accompanied by the model or pattern number "78." The signature "UP" appears on the underside of the set's pitcher; this mark belongs to Ulla Paahlen.
She worked for AB Verkstadskeramik at Skansen—the name under which the pottery operated for a period starting in the late 1940s.
The pottery was originally founded in 1948 by her husband, master potter Michael Paahlen. The couple ran the business together during the heyday of the studio era, meaning this beautiful blue-patterned liqueur set was most likely produced during the 1950s or early 1960s.
All glazes are mixed by hand at the Skansen workshop, resulting in the glaze's vibrant, unique variations of cobalt blue and turquoise. The white interior of the small cups is also characteristic of their functional yet aesthetic style.
