A vintage "sprinkle" cat (or sugar glaze cat).
Material and texture: The figurine is made of cast ceramic/porcelain. The distinctive "sprinkle" texture (also known as spaghetti glaze or crust glaze in some contexts) was created by applying small glass beads or porcelain granules to the surface before the figurine was fired in the kiln.
Markings and origin: The underside shows the classic round firing hole from production, as well as traces of a rectangular paper label that has unfortunately fallen off over the years.
Made in Japan during the 1950s or 1960s.
