The Laughing Buddha (Budai): Seated at one end, above the small hole where the incense stick is inserted. In Asian tradition, Budai is a symbol of happiness, abundance, wealth, and contentment.
The Eye of Horus (Wedjat): At the opposite end (where the ash collects), there is a distinct relief of the ancient Egyptian Eye of Horus. This is a classic symbol of protection, healing, royal power, and good health.
Wing details: Carved, outstretched wings run along the sides of the incense channel, reinforcing the Egyptian theme (resembling the outstretched wings of the goddess Isis or the falcon god Horus).
Function: It is designed as a classic "ash catcher" for incense sticks. The wooden end of the stick is placed in the small hole in front of the Buddha's feet; as the stick burns, the ash falls into the long groove and lands safely on the tray.
