Ceramic

A ceramic wall plate from the Swedish manufacturer Jie Gantofta. The plate was designed by Aimo Nietosvuori, who was the chief designer at Jie Gantofta between 1957 and 1992.

Jie Gantofta wall plates are hand-painted and often in a Scandinavian modern style from the 1970s. The company was founded in 1942 and originally manufactured small wooden objects, but started with ceramics in 1952.

Whether you are religious or not, this combination of ceramics, paint and shells is a beautiful artistic creation. I photographed it on my visit to the ceramics factory in Crete (Greece). Handmade by the artist at the factory.

On my walk through the streets of Platanias (Greece), I saw this vase standing as a decoration in a corner. It is an old anthropomorphic ceramic vase from the 20th century. Despite the dried flowers in the vase, it looks charming.
